Question:
I live in Torrance California and just bought my 2008 MDX in the last six months. All I want the trailer hitch for is to mount a bike rack on it. I have no intentions of towing so I would not need the accessories to tow. My questions are as follows: What do you suggest I buy in addition to part #13354? Are there other accessories necessary to complete the installation? Can you recommend a local mechanic that I could use to install the #13354 on my Acura 2008 MDX? Thank you

Helpful Expert Reply:
The Curt Trailer Hitch # 13354 that you referenced comes with all the necessary hardware to install on your 2008 Acura MDX, so you will not need any additional accessories to complete the installation.
A hitch lock is not a necessity for the hitch installation; however, I highly recommend using a lock with both your bikes and bike rack. The Trailer Hitch Receiver Lock # C23519 is an economical way to safeguard your investment. Another option is the Hollywood Racks # HRLHPC2 which is a trailer hitch receiver lock with a 8-foot cable that will lock your bikes to your rack and your rack to your hitch.
If you need a bike rack, I have linked you to available bike racks that will fit with this hitch. I have also attached a FAQ article that gives you information regarding different types of hitch-mount bike racks.
