Recommended Tire Chains For A 2020 Toyota Tundra

Updated 12/27/2022 | Published 12/23/2022

Question:

Hello, 2020 tundra limited, OEM P275 65R18 Michelin LTX AT2. Primarily unmaintained muddy and/or snowy county roads, low speed fine. Best chain for rear tires? What would work on front tires, realizing Toyota doesnt recommend, but something needed for effective steering on some back roads.

The Konig Tire Chains # KON94FR would be a compatible fit for your 275/65R18 tires and have a diamond pattern, which will give you a better grip since a diamond pattern chains will always have a part of the chain touching the ground. This will also help with the thumping you'd experience if you used a ladder pattern chain instead. These chains are the only diamond option that are rated for use on or off road so they'll be the best option for you on the unmaintained muddy roads.

Toyota doesn't recommend placing any tire chains on the front tires so I don't recommend placing these on the front as you'll void your warranty if anything were to happen. The only thing you can really do while staying within Toyota's recommendation is to install snow tires instead of the chains.
