Running Lights Stay On with Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness On 2016 Honda CR-V
Updated 12/19/2022 | Published 12/18/2022 >
Question:
I bought and installed this connector, easy installation, however I have constant power on the running light wire. My trailer running lights are always on, even when my 2016 Honda CRV isnt running and no vehicle lighting is on. I unplugged my trailer and used a debugging plug, and yes I have constant power on it. My Honda is completely stock with no aftermarket lighting or anything added. I have to unplug my lights when Im parked while towing my trailer, and then plug them back in while towing the trailer on the roadways. Any thoughts ?

In order to troubleshoot the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # C56158 which is a fit for a 2016 Honda CR-V you'll need a test light. Once you have this you'll then need to probe the running light wire going into the converter box with the signal NOT active. If you have power here then you know the issue is on the vehicle. If you don't have power here then test the running light wire leaving the converter box. If you have power here then you know the issue is the converter box. If you don't have power here then you know the issue is on the trailer.
If the converter box is bad you'll need to replace the entire harness for which I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector part # 118561.
