Question:

Hi Im interested in the Yakima roof rack for my 2015 Mazda CX-5 with a naked roof. This roof rack seems to use mounting points that are hidden under the plastic trim of my roof. Do I need to check this first or do all 2015 Mazda CX-5 have these mounting points? Regarding the 50-in crossbars: They would stick out from the side of the car further than I would like. Can I trim them with a saw or something to make them a few inches shorter? Thanks

The Yakima roof rack for fixed mounting points will fit your 2015 Mazda CX-5, yes. Your CX-5 (and all others) do have those fixed mounting points under the ditch molding trim you referred to, so it will work, with the correct part numbers being the following:

- Yakima JetStream Crossbars # Y00425
- SkyLine Towers for Yakima Crossbars # Y53TR
- Landing Pad 11 # Y00233
- (Optional) Yakima Same Key System (SKS) Lock Cores # Y07204

As for the crossbars, they are made of anodized aluminum so they are physically able to be cut. Yet I have no idea how that might affect the fit, or if the end caps will be able to be put back on, how much the integrity of the bars will be compromised, or how much the weight capacity will be affected.

It will also void the warranty of the crossbars, so while I personally would not do it, the choice is yours once you have it in hand.
