Is it possible to remove one of the bike trays from the exo double up

Yes, you can remove one of the bike trays from the Yakima DoubleUp 2 Bike Rack for Modular EXO System item # Y24VR. The trays install with two bolts and you would just need to remove those to make this a single bike system.
