Can Yakima EXO System Install on RV

Updated 03/02/2026 | Published 07/02/2024

Question:

Hi, Im considering adding a yakima exo system to the back of my tow-behind RV. I have a class 3 hitch rated to 350 lbs tounge weight. I do understand that the yakima system has not been tested for rv use. Do you anticipate any potential issues with using the yakima in this way? Thank-you!

Hi Dan; I believe Yakima actually has tested this which is why they specifically state in their EXO guidelines "EXO is NOT suitable for RV" under their warnings. As great as it would be to use it you wouldn't want to find that you lost part of the # Y44ZR on the road somewhere along the way. You will need to stick with a standard cargo carrier like # e98874 or the bumper mounted # e96ZR to carry extra gear.

Hey Dan, did you end up going with one of the standard cargo carriers for your RV instead of the Yakima EXO system? Knowing how that setup worked out could really help others looking to add extra storage to their rigs.

IS a class B considered an RV. I am looking at installing it on a promaster.
