How To Find Towing Capacity for 2018 Ford F-150 with 3.5L EcoBoost Engine
Published 11/22/2022 >
Question:
I bought this used, so I am struggling to find out my true towing capabilites. I THINK this one with the short bed only tows up to 10,700 lbs. this has a 3.55 on this short bed and the GVWR says 7000#. Four different Ford dealerships have struggled to tell me with the VIN#! The window sticker say Tow Package, not Max Tow Package. I would like to put airbags and a ball with the Anderson coupler for a smallish 5th wheel with a dry weight of 7000 lbs. What can I both bumper pull and possible 5th wheel tow as well as hitch weight and 5th wheel pin weight?

In order to find the exact towing capacity of your 2018 Ford F-150 you'll need to go on Ford's site and look in the "2018 Towing Guide" document. The conventional towing capacity for models with the 3.5L EcoBoost Engine can range from 6,000 lbs - 13,200 lbs depending on options like cab type, gross combined weight rating, axle ratio, drivetrain, wheelbase etc. which is why I cannot give you an exact amount.
If you're looking to max out the capacity of the truck then you are wise to get some air bags to help it better handle the load, I recommend the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs part # AL57385 which you can see I installed in the video below.
