How To Remove Old Glue From Holding Tank Pad Heater
Updated 11/01/2022 | Published 10/31/2022 >
Question:
I am having problems getting the old adhesive off the tank using only alcohol. I have scraped and wiped down with alcohol multiple times and it looks like it would take several days to get down to the bare tank. I really dont want to spend that much time if I dont have to. I dont think the pad would be as effective installed over the old adhesive and wonder if it will stay stuck over the long term. So my questions are, Should I just wipe it down real good with the alcohol and mount the new pad? or is there something else I can use to remove the old adhesive and then wipe down with alcohol? or am I just stuck with a long dreary job of scraping down the tank?

In order to remove the old adhesive you might find it easier to heat the glue first and then try a combination of scraping or products such as rubber alcohol. Once gone, you can then apply the ThermaHeat RV Holding Tank or Step Heater Pad part # 277-000163. It's best to remove as much excess glue as possibly so the unit can attach securely and preform as intended.
I have attached for you below our full selection of pad heaters.
