Replacement Lower Assembly and 2" Stinger for Thule T2 Pro XTR 2-Bike Rack

Updated 08/28/2024 | Published 10/20/2022

Question:

I noticed the other day that when my rack is installed and the knob is completely tightened and locked, the auto pin does not engage like it used to. I have tried unlocking the knob and completely backing it out, then resetting the auto pin and locking it all down again. But the auto pin still moves freely. Is this something that can be fixed, or do I need to replace the auto pin and if so, where would I buy a replacement part?

Thanks for the picture! I just spoke with my rep at Thule his solution was to replace it because the spring and the locking mechanism has gone out. They do not offer just the locking pin portion because it is riveted onto the frame. Instead you will need the Replacement Lower Assembly and 2" Stinger for Thule T2 Pro XTR 2-Bike Rack item # TH37MY.

This replaces the lower assembly and 2" stinger for your Thule T2 Pro XTR 2-bike rack item # TH83JV.

Hi, I have the same issue. Is there any other aftermarket solution for the pin? Changing the whole system seems a bit excessive. Is there, perhaps, a one-sided bolt that can be inserted?

@Janis No, I am sorry that is the only solution that doesn't involve drilling a hole in the bike rack and using a standard hitch pin like item # e98882.
