What's Difference Between Trailer Tire Sizes ST175/80R13 and ST175/80D13

Question:
Will going from a 175/80b13. To a 175/80d13 tire hurt anything

Expert Reply:
The D in the second tire size you listed indicates that the tire is a bias ply configuration but the B in the first size does not match anything but since it's close to the letter R most likely that's what you have. That would indicate that it's a Radial construction which is the preferred style. Radials like what comes with the part # AM31952 that you referenced are smoother, build less heat, and have higher speed ratings generally like this one which is rated for 81 mph. Bias plys tend to get hot quicker and are more suited for agricultural applications.
