Replacement Seal and Bearing Buddies for a Kodiak Disc Brake Kit K2HR712

Published 09/27/2022

Question:

I have this disc brake kit. Installed back in 2016. It has worked great. On one of the wheels- there is grease slung all over the outside of the wheel. Does this mean that the seal is bad or is it possible that just too much grease was pumped in? I believe there is a seal on the inside of the hub..not sure about the outside bearing side.

The answer to that question depends on how recently the bearings were greased but the solution to the problem is the same either way. You are going to have to replace the seal on your Kodiak Disc Brake Kit item # K2HR712 that has the grease all over the wheel. For this you will need the Grease Seals 10-36 item # RG06-070.

You may also want to add the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors - Model 2717SS - Stainless Steel (Pair) item # BB2717SS. The reason I recommended these is because they have a spring that prevents overfilling and rear seal damage with an automatic pressure-relief feature. If you did blow your seal out by putting too much grease in this will prevent it from ever happening again.

These fit a 2.717" hub bore and will replace the grease caps on your hubs.
