With Pulley Blocks Could Bulldog Winch Powersports Series ATV Winch # BDW15002 Hoist 500 kg

Question:
Hi there, Im trying to figure out if a trailer winch designed for pulling could be used to hoist the keel on my trailer boat. If a winch is rated to pull 3000lb 1360kg on the horizontal, and the direction of pull coming off my keel hoisting mechanism is horizontal thanks to the use of turning blocks, plus I have a mechanical advantage of 6:1, would this winch be able to hoist my 500kg keel? I appreciate that winches designed for pulling arent designed to be used for lifting, but since the turning block transforms the vertical force into a horizontal force, presumably there is no difference? Thanks.

Based on what you mentioned the Bulldog Winch Powersports Series ATV Winch - Wire Rope # BDW15002 would easily have the weight rating for your setup. Since you have a pulley block setup that will give you a mechanical advantage of 6:1 this winch would easily handle lifting 500 kg.
