Can Standard 5th Wheel Rail Kit Be Used On Truck without Bed
Question:
My f350 has not bed and I’d like to mount this kit to it. Does the kit rely on the bed for any support? I worry about the rails not having the support of the bed in their span. This would be mount exactly like it’s supposed to be just sans bed. Do you think that would be a problem?

Expert Reply:
I do have an option for you but we can't recommend using a standard rail kit on a truck without bed as they rely on the bed for support. Instead, I recommend using the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch part # BWGNRK1500 with B&W Companion Flatbed Gooseneck-to-5th-Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter part # BWRVK3050 which allows for both fifth wheel and gooseneck towing. Please note, installation will require welding and fabricating.
