Troubleshooting Trailer Brake Controller Issues With Brake Lights and Turn Signals

Question:
I have a 1994 Dodge Ram 2500 5.2 gas motor and a voyager brake controller when hooked to a trailer the green light on my controller flashes with the turn signals also both left and right signals flash and when I press the brake it quickly turns red then the light goes out all together this really has me scratching my head any advice or ideas help anything welcome Thanks in advance

While it sounds like a wiring issue with the trailer I recommend using a Tekonsha 7-Way, RV-Style Tester # 6562 to test the 7-way and Voyager Brake Controller # 39510 on your 1994 Dodge Ram 2500. This will help you to narrow down and determine if you have issues on the truck portion of the wiring.
I have linked an article for 7-way trailer wiring below that you will help you in testing the the trailer wiring and determining if you have a short that is causing the issues you are having with the trailer lights. It sounds like your brake wire is somehow shorting to both the left and right turn signal/brake light wires.
