How Do I Determine Which Bearing Buddy Bearing Protector Will Fit My Aspen Motorcycle Trailer

Updated 10/31/2013 | Published 10/30/2013

Question:

I have an Aspen Motorcycle Pop Up Trailer with 5 lug 4.80 x 12 inch wheels. The Aspen was made about 2010. Having Bearing Buddys on my boat trailers and seeing that the rubber Bras are 19 B they are large for the Aspen trailer, so I figure I need either the Model 1781 or the Model 1810 Bearing Buddy. I also prefer them in Stainless Steel

The best way to make sure you receive the correct Bearing Buddy bearing protector is to measure the inner diameter of the hub bore (see photo). Unfortunately, the manufacturer of Aspen trailers does not provide much information about their trailers or replacement parts, so I was not able to obtain the OEM grease cap size that Aspen uses.

I strongly recommend measuring the hub bore with a precise measuring tool such as a dial caliper because hub bores can vary down to the thousandths of an inch. If you find that your hub bore measures 1.781 inches, then the Bearing Buddy Bearing Protectors, Model 1781 - Stainless Steel, # BB1781SS, will work for you. If your hub bore is different, let me know what you come up with and I can make a more specific recommendation. I have also attached a link to a question I have previously answered for a customer that includes a video showing how to measure the hub bore for a replacement grease cap.

If you are not able to measure the hub bore on your trailer, I may be able to find the correct Bearing Buddy if you can tell me the manufacturer of the trailer axle and hub and the weight capacity of the axle. The name of the axle and hub manufacturer is typically stamped on the axle and hub. The weight capacity can be found on the identification and specs plate on the side of the trailer.
