When installing a spring assist on your 8.5 foot wide trailer I recommend The Conventional Ramp Door Spring for 8 foot Wide Enclosed Trailer - Dual Spring - 250-lb Capacity # CB250D96SHD. This will work for you 8-1/2 foot because of where the springs actually mount.
This dual-spring setup lets you easily open and close the ramp door on your enclosed trailer and eliminates the risk of it freefalling. It will fit trailer doors between 80 inches to 96 inches wide. It has a sturdy steel construction and the spring helps reduce the wear and helps prevent damage to the door hinges.
