Can Leaf Spring Hangers Be Installed Without Welding

do i have to weld on leaf spring hangers or can i just use self-tapping metal screws

Expert Reply:

For strength and stability we always recommend welding the leaf spring hangers to your trailer. It would not be a good idea to use screws or any other type of hardware to secure the hangers due to the amount of stress they get during use.

Another note of caution is that if the trailer you are welding the hangers to is galvanized, make certain this is done in a well ventilated area as the fumes produced from welding galvanized metal are toxic.
