Is Additional Wiring Required When Switching From a Gas Only Water Heater With Pilot to DSI?
Updated 06/16/2022 | Published 06/15/2022 >
Question:
If you dont have a DSI water heater and you want to replace it with one with DSI, is there any wiring that needs to be done

Expert Reply:
A water heater like the Dometic RV Water Heater # DMC74FR that has a DSI system will not require additional wiring for just the DSI. A DSI and non DSI water heater will have 12 volt power that goes to operate the thermostats and DSI board for those models. This particular water heater does have a 120 volt electric heating element as well as control switch for both. You would need the additional wiring for the control switches and 120 volt connection if you do not already have them.
