Is It Normal For a Blue Ox Patriot to Not Engage the Brakes in a Flat Towed Vehicle

Question:

I have hitch up the blue ox patriot 3 in my tow vehicle, the controller works inside the motor home, but when I step on the brakes in motor home it doesn,t activate the brake in towed vehicle.

What you are experiencing with your Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR is perfectly normal. The Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR operates off of inertia and will not activate the brakes in your tow vehicle every time. It will only activate the brakes when it needs to, it uses inertia to know when it is appropriate to activate the brakes. It will also activate the brakes using the controller or if the breakaway switch is activated.

But if you are testing the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR system at a low rate of speed or while parked, the system is not going to engage the brake in your tow vehicle.
