Yes! I confirmed with your Honda owner's manual that you can flat-tow your 2-wheel drive 2012 Honda CR-V EX. In order to have a complete setup, you need a base plate, a tow bar, a tow braking system, safety cables, vehicle tow wiring, and fuse bypasses.
For a list of recommended parts, I suggest the following setup:
- etrailer Invisible Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # e98955
- Falcon All-Terrain Tow Bar # RM-522
- Blue Ox Safety Cables # BX88196
- Brake Buddy Classic 3 # HM39494
- Roadmaster 4-Diode Universal Wiring Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-152-98146-7
- If you owner's manual says to pull the to only pull the #19 ACC radio fuse, use part # RM76511. If it states to pull the #19 ACC radio fuse and the #20 ACC key lock fuse, use part # RM76512.
The great thing about the etrailer base plate kit is that is simply installs into your CR-V's chassis. It comes with all required hardware. As far as the Falcon tow bar, it allows for you to easily release your vehicle even in uneven ground and simply slides into the RV's hitch receiver without the need of a ball mount. With this tow bar, you do not need to purchase an additional adapter like many other tow bars. In addition, you will also receive the proportional action of the Brake Buddy Classic 3 which applies the CR-V's brakes at the same level that you apply the brakes to your RV. With the diode kit, this will allow you to connect your RV's tail, brake, and turn signal lights to your CR-V's lighting system. With the required fuses, these allow you to tow your vehicle without draining your battery.
I went ahead and attached product videos that show the installation of these products on a 2012 Honda CR-V for your convenience.
