Parts Needed to Install a 7-way on a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek For a Brake Controller

Question:

Hi, I need a 7 pin wiring harness, brake controller, and bracket ? to plug the trailer into for a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek Sport. I have but not yet installed Tekonsha part number 118467 4 pin wiring harness. Can you guys help me get rigged up with the right parts? Thanks a bunch

It sounds like you are needing a 7-way connector for your 2021 Subaru Crosstrek to tow a trailer with brakes. You are already on the right track with the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness # 118467. You will want to install the # 118467 and then adapt that 4-way into a 7-way using the Universal Installation Kit for Trailer Brake Controller # ETBC7 (the only way to get a 7-way is to install a 4-way and adapt it into a 7-way). You can then use the No-Drill Mount Bracket # 18136 to provide an attachment point for the 7-way bracket included in the # ETBC7.

For a brake controller, I recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR. This will provide you with a sleek proportional brake controller knob that doesn't need a bulky controller in your Crosstrek. It will install using the Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers # RED69FR and you can add the Universal Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob # 331-TPSI-001 to provide for a more factory appearance.
