Our fan opens and closes but bumps and bounces several times before completely open and closing.

If your hearing a lot of bumping and bouncing while your MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat # MA00-04000K is opening and closing then the gears are most likely stripped and the lift operator will need to be replaced with part # MA10-20281K-3CF.
