How to Fit B&W Companion RVK3000 to 2022 Ram 2500 OEM Puck System

Published 04/16/2022

Question:

I recently ordered a new dodge 2022 2500 long bed with the trailer 5th wheel prep. I realize that the puck system is designed into the truck but am wondering if the existing companion will be OK in the gooseneck ball slot like my turnoverball. I have not seen the truck yet but will have limited time once it is delivered until we are on the road on its first towing adventure. is the necessary underbed support adequate for the shape and size of the older companion or is it necessary to purchase a companion which utilizes the puck system? on another note, if reusable, is there a replacement for the silver steel risers which are topped with the rubber contact points where the head attaches? My rubber contact points are getting worn 14 years in... Thanks in advance!! Scott

Thank you for the information and photos!

It looks like you have the older RVK3000 B&W Companion which means you need the Base for B&W Companion # BWRVB3600 which matches up with the OEM puck system that's coming on your 2022 Ram 2500. The head from your older unit is the same that you would find on a new Companion # BWRVK3600 that uses the same base system. This base comes with new uprights and rubber isolators so you won't have to purchase those separately.

The center gooseneck hole is a circle on the OEM pucks so if you wanted to utilize your current Companion setup you would need to have the OEM package canceled so you can install the B&W Turnoverball Underbed Gooseneck Trailer Hitch # BWGNRK1320 which has the squared receiver that matches your 5th wheel hitch.
