Question:
Will this carrier work on a 3inch wide by 4inch deep aluminum channel and still be long enough to accommodate the hardware and a P205 R14 spare ?

As long as there is no obstruction of the actual tire/wheel itself that pushes it further away from the # FETCHL0700, your P205 R14 will fit this spare tire holder.
