Question:
It seems there is no electricity to the fan now for some reason but everything else worked. The wires are still connected. What do you think the problem is? And how do you use a voltage reader? ???????

According to MaxxAir, you might need to reboot the circuit board of your MaxxFan Plus Roof Vent w/ 12V Fan and Thermostat - Manual Lift - 10 Speed - White, part # MA00-04000K. You can do this by disconnecting the power from the fan for about two minutes, then reconnect it to the power. In addition, your roof vent will not operate if the rain sensor is wet.
You can use a multimeter, part # PT89ZR, to test the circuit in your MaxxAir vent. The white wire is going to be the ground. You need to turn the dial to the 12V dc portion to test the circuit in your fan. The negative, or black wire, should get connected to the ground and the red wire needs to be connected to the hot wire. You will not have to use the alligator clips to test for the voltage. The probes should be enough. You will just touch them to the corresponding wires.
I have included a product description link and a video review link below.
