Is There a Sidewinder for Fabex 520 Pin Box

Updated 04/05/2022 | Published 04/04/2022

Question:

I have a 2012 Ford F-150 Supercrew with a 56inch bed. Ive purchased a Fleetwood Wilderness Lite 25foot 5th wheel and have been told I need a slide hitch due to my short bed. I have a Curt R20 slide hitch and I have a But, Ive also been told a slide hitch isnt enough, I need a Sidewinder or Revolution. Im new to RV ownership and am a little confused. I currently have a Fabex Model 520 on the trailer. Measurement from center axle to cab is 28, trailer is 8foot wide. I need some expert advice. Do I need a Sidewinder and if so, which one?

I do have an option for you but with a super short bed (less than 6-1/2') you'll need either a rotating pin box or extended slide fifth wheel hitch. It does not look like anyone makes a rotating pin box for the Fabex 520 you have so you're left with the extended slide and the only option out there for this at this time is the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch part # DM8550040. This hitch can slide back 22.5" which is enough to make full turns with the truck and most trailers.

The Demco Hijacker Autoslide will require the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails and Custom Installation Kit part # DM8552004-71 on a 2012 Ford F-150
