Can I Use the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack # TH83JV on My Motorhome?

Question:

Any thoughts regarding the Thule T2 Pro XTR rack (TH83JV). It is listed as being compatible with a motorhome, as well as electric bicycles. Also read a few reviews about bicycles falling off due to failure of the restraining bar(s), which is a concern. I am looking to transport Aventon Pace 500 Step-Thru bikes.

You can definitely use the Thule T2 Pro XTR Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 2" Hitches - Wheel Mount # TH83JV with a motorhome. It comes with a wheel-mount attachment style that holds the bikes securely in place. This mounting style has the advantage over using frame-style attachment racks that require the use of a bike frame adapter bar like the # 64005. Generally, we find that wheel-mount racks can provide a more secure attachment than frame-mount racks. Another benefit of the rack is that it comes with a tightening knob that fits snugly into the hitch receiver. Also, as long as your Aventon Pace 500 bikes weigh less than 60 pounds, you fall within the weight capacity parameters of the rack.

One of the factors that can be a blessing or a curse is the short shank of the rack. The measurement from the center pinhole to the closest part of the rack is 5 inches. With this length, you will receive less overall movement on the rack when traveling on your motorhome than racks with longer shanks. However, I recommend measuring your hitch from the center of the pinhole to the outside face of your rear bumper to make sure you don't have any bumper interference.
