Which tool box will fit it. I dont see anything with a 48 inch or less base.

DeeZee offers two chest-type toolboxes that would be a fit for your 1990 Chevy stepside. A 6.4 cubic foot model is available in silver diamond-plate as part # DZ8537 or in powder coated black diamond-plate as part # DZ8537B. An 8 cubic foot model is also available, # DZ8546 in silver diamond-plate or # DZ8546B for powder coated black diamond-plate.
DeeZee does not offer a crossover type box for a stepside bed truck.
