Question:
Hi. Can I use the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller - Proportional universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers Part Numbers: RED24FR,RED69FR in place of the Tekonsha Prodigy P3 Trailer Brake Controller item # 90195 you recommended because my fit in the escape is limited and I can see myself hitting the under dash model with my leg?

Yes, you can install the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller item # RED24FR in your 2012 Ford Escape. The Tow-Pro is also a proportional brake controller and is great for saving space on your console. The control knob mounts in your dash or other easily accessible area. The main unit is able to be installed out of sight and can be mounted at any angle and will still accurately sense the deceleration of your vehicle. Since your Escape doesn't have the tow package you will need the Universal Wiring Harness for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controllers item # RED69FR to complete the installation.
We have a couple of other mounting options for the control knob that can go inside inserts in your dash. The Universal Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob item # 331-TPSI-001 which measures 1-1/4 by 1 inch. There is also the option of using the Mounting Panel for Redarc Tow-Pro Trailer Brake Controller Control Knob item # 331-TPSI-002 for the more standard knock-out measuring 1-1/4 by 7/8 inch. I have linked a couple diagrams to show you the dimensions of these mounts.
