Dometic 300 Base Gasket Troubleshooting Tips

Question:

I have an eight and a half rough in and currently have a dometic 300 in a 2018 Rockwood now I understand that theres a problem with smells and a solution of siliconing the gaskets on the interior of the two part toilet if I purchase a new 300 does it still have the same problems because it appears its the only toilet that will fit my rough in in the bathroom a quick response would be appreciated

If the solution requires caulking around the gasket then the gasket itself is not a correct fit for the toilet, the gasket has failed, or the toilet isn't tightened down enough to form a tight seal with the gasket.

If the seal on your Dometic 300 Weekender RV Toilet # DOM64FR has failed then I recommend the Replacement Toilet Base Seal for Dometic RV Toilet # DOM28FR and making sure that the toilet is properly tightened down.

As for the smell issue, I haven't heard of any complaints in my time here so you should be good to go with ordering another Dometic 300.
