Question:
will a over and under kit work to give more tire well clearance

Expert Reply:
The Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit, part # K71-385-00, you referenced is designed to be used with double-eye springs, and 3 inch axles. If you have a 2-3/8 inch diameter axle on your trailer, then the Over-Under Kit you should use is part # K71-384-00. When installed, you should see more clearance in the wheel well of your 20 ft Prowler. The amount of increased clearance you will have will depend on the load in your trailer. A conversion kit should only be installed if your existing suspension is in good working order.
These kits can be installed without welding, but the manufacturer strongly recommends tack welding the new spring seat to the axle. After lifting the trailer, keep in mind that the geometry of the trailer will change, which may contribute to trailer sway and instability.
