Question:
I have a 2 1/2 inch hitch on a 1 ton dual wheel truck. The weight distribution hitch is 12 inches in length on top and 14 inches in length from top to bottom. When I turn a sharp turn the bed of the truck hit the corner of the camper. What is the best way to extend the hitch. Trailer weighs around 6500lbs Thanks

I have a couple options that will help you extend your weight distribution hitch. First the Brophy Hitch Reducer and Extender # HR26. This will fit your 2-1/2" receiver and also reduces it to a 2" receiver. It moves the hitch pin hole back 7" giving you an extra 7" of clearance. With a weight distribution hitch the extender has a capacity of 1,000lbs tongue weight and 10,000lbs total trailer weight. Without weight distribution it will only support a trailer with tongue weight of 500lbs and 5,000lbs total trailer weight.
The other option is using a Equal-i-zer Weight Dist Shank # EQ90-02-4600 which is 18" in overall length compared to standard shanks that are only 12" in overall length. To use this your weight distribution hitch must have 3/4" mounting holes that are separated by 1-1/4" on center.
