Question:
My boat is close to 7000lbs. What tie downs do you recommend for the bow and transom ?

Expert Reply:
The purpose of boat tie-downs is to secure the lightest object to the heaviest object. For example, if your boat weighs 7,000 pounds and your trailer weighs 2,000 pounds, you want to choose a strap that has a break strength that exceeds the weight of the trailer.
With that being said, the BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Gunwale Tie-Down Straps - 38" Long # IMF14221 has a break strength of 2,500 pounds. These straps are frequently used as bow tie-downs and the BoatBuckle G2 Retractable, Ratcheting Transom Tie-Down Straps # IMF08893 are used as the stern tie-downs. We confirmed with our rep at BoatBuckle that these two straps are used frequently for boats up to 26 feet long.
For a strap with a working load limit (WLL) that works for your particular setup, feel free to respond to this answer with the weight of your trailer and I will be happy to recommend straps that will definitely give you the weight capacity you need.
