Does Flat Towing 2002 Chevy Tahoe Require Crossbar
Updated 02/14/2022 | Published 02/12/2022 >
Question:
Looking for a new tow bar to use with our 2002 Chevy Tahoe 4WD and trying to put together a parts list / order. Currently considering Blackhawk 2 All Terrain 10000 lb or etrailer XHD 10500lb. Is a crossbar type needed for this vehicle? What base plates would work for each tow bar? If crossbar-type is needed, is there a removable crossbar for when not towing? Other parts needed? Tahoe is already wired for lights, and will likely be adding Air Force braking system

Expert Reply:
A crossbar does not need to be used when flat towing your 2002 Chevy Tahoe if you use a Direct Connect base plate kit like the part # 131-8 which is a confirmed fit. This would work great with the 10k rated Roadmaster BlackHawk Tow Bar part # RM-422. You have the rest of your flat towing setup so you'd be good.
