Does the Pop & Lock # PAL8160 Work with OEM Tailgates without Locks?

Hello, I was looking into purchasing the pop and lock power lock PAL 8160 for my 2010 chevy colorado. Also, I did read that the PAL8160 can be used with a non keyed tailgate correct? That is what I have. Thank you for your time.
