What Do I Do If My Pop & Lock Tailgate Lock # PAL1700 Wont Unlock?

I ordered and installed this locking tailgate handle for my 2008 Chev Colorado a month ago, and Ive been having a problem with the locking mechanism in the handle. Ive closed my tailgate with the handle locked, and now the handle will not unlock. So, my tailgate is closed and locked on my truck, and I have a tonneau cover on the truck. So, how do I open my tailgate without damaging the truck or the cover? The truck is a 2008 Chevy Colorado extended cab LT1 2-wheel drive.

I have an answer for you. Unfortunately, if the locking mechanism in the Pop & Lock Custom Tailgate Lock with Handle - Manual - Black # PAL1700 will not open, the only way is to break into the tailgate in order to remove the lock. We have had issues like this in the past, and Pop and Lock informed us that most local locksmiths can assist you with this particular issue. I recommend reaching out to a local locksmith near you in order to break out the lock.
