I recommend the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 31302 for your 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 SLT extended cab with the 6.5' bed. This is our easiest front receiver to install as the frame mounting brackets are separate from the receiver cross tube. I have linked an installation video below for you to see where the brackets mount.
I like using the WeatherTech BumpStepXL Hitch-Mounted Bumper Protector and Step # WT81BS1XL with the front mounted receiver as it makes it much easier when I need to check things under the hood.
