Question:

I want to add a snowplow to my 2020 Silverado 1500 4x4 for my own long driveway. nothing crazy, just want to stop shoveling. Any setup you’d suggest?

Brad, for light residential use, the Meyer HomePlow # ME88FR is exactly what you need. It’s an electric-lift design with a wireless remote, so no cab wiring, and it mounts straight into a 2" front receiver. Your 1500 may squat a bit under the weight, so front suspension helpers like Timbren will level things out nicely, such as the # T74FR

If you don’t already have a front-mount hitch, hop into our FitGuide to find a complete kit with both the receiver and plow. There's different hitch receiver fits depending on engine options.

How much snow do you normally get each winter?

usually get around 6 to 10 inches per storm. Will this little electric plow handle that depth okay?

@Brad Brad, absolutely. The # ME88FR handles a full foot of snow without issue, especially with fresh powder. The key is to plow a few times per storm instead of waiting until it’s stacked high. Since the electric actuator lifts slower than a hydraulic plow, keeping ahead of accumulation makes it effortless. If you ever start clearing deeper, wet snow, you can angle the blade slightly to reduce resistance.

Can I drive with it on between my house and my shop a few miles away?

@JanetP Hey Janet, that is perfectly fine. One thing to note is that Meyer says to stay under 10mph when transporting the plow, and no more than 5mph when plowing with these HomePlows. The commercial grade WingMan units can go up to 40mph on the road and plow up to 20mph.
