Recommended Stabilizing/Leveling Jacks For An Idle Time 254 Travel Trailer

Updated 01/31/2022 | Published 01/30/2022

Question:

good day, I have an Idle Time 254,GVM 7000lbs. I am after a levelling system that allows me to slightly lift one side or the front or rear off the ground if needed to have it levelled. I need a system that works by hand in case a motor or pump breaks. I like the design of the ultra-fab power twin stabilisers as they tuck nicely away underneath and are easy to fit and allow a manual operation if needed. But I have heard that this does not allow lifting despite the load rating on their charts is up to 6000lbs per leg. A system like the ground control needs a lot of mounting and does not tuck away. If we go off the normal road I fear that the legs might hit the ground? And I cannot operate this system with a handle if it breaks. Do you have something for me that would work please or can I use the ultra-fab? with kindest regards

The Ultra-Fab Power Twin II Electric Stabilizer with Dual Motors # UF39-941705 title is a little misleading because the jack itself can "lift" (extend) 30" to level the trailer out but isn't designed to really lift the trailer.

That being said, these are rated to 6,000 pounds of leveling lift, but as a general rule, this style of stabilizer should not be used to lift a trailer to the point of changing a tire or something to that affect.

The Lippert Electric Ground Control TT Automatic 5-Point Travel Trailer Leveling System # LC672136 will also fall under the same style of jacks and even states not to use it to change a tire or under vehicle service.

If you're planning on using the jacks as you said, just small lifting only to level the trailer, then you will be fine using the # UF39-941705. If you find yourself with a larger gap to fill for your jack feet to reach the ground you can use the Stromberg Carlson Base Pad Peak for Scissor and Stabilizer Jacks # SC58MR for an added 8" of height.
