If there is a Short Circuit Will Curt Converter Box Blow or Just the Affected Circuit

Updated 07/26/2013 | Published 07/25/2013

Question:

If you have a trailer that one of the turn signals wiring shorts out, does this unit burn out or will it still work after the short is corrected? How many times will this unit save your auto circuits from blowing a fuse ? The reason I ask this is because I have a Draw-tite protector installed on my 2004 Saturn Vue and after using my sons trailer, which had on short on the right turn signal wiring, my protector no longer works on the right turn signal trailer light. The protector did its job because the Saturn lighting all works correctly. Thank you

Normally when there is a short circuit it will blow the converter box no matter what the brand is. But sometimes it will only affect the one function that shorted like what you have experienced. It could go either way but regardless of what does happen you would need to replace the converter to fix the issue.

We do have the plug in style T-connector # 118418 that you can use instead of a hardwire harness if you hare interested. I have linked instructions and a video for you to view.

You will need to get the short fixed prior to using any new wiring harnesses. Otherwise you will keep blowing converters!
