Fit of the Timbren Rear Suspension Kit on a 2003 Toyota Tundra that has Lowering Shackles
Updated 07/17/2013 | Published 07/16/2013 >
Question:
the shackle lowers the rear end of the body 1-2. If i could get the measurement of the mounted Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TTORTUN4 from the top of the leaf spring to the top of the rubber spring, then i can add one inch and that should be the length i need between the leaf springs and the frame in order for the Timbren Rear Suspension Enhancement System # TTORTUN4 to install and work properly on my vehicle. does that sound correct? if so, can i get those measurements?

I have contacted Timbren and for the specific rear suspension kit that you referenced that # TOTTUN4, you will need approximately 6-1/4 inches of clearance between the frame and the leaf spring on your modified 2003 Toyota Tundra vehicle suspension.
I did pull a set of Timbrens from the warehouse and the measurement from the top of the leaf spring to the the top of the Timbren spring is 5-1/8 inches, and if you add approximately 1 inch like you have indicated that will give you approximately 6-1/8 inches which is very close to the measurements from Timbren.
If you measure the clearance on your vehicle without any load placed on it and there is at least 6-1/4 inches of clearance from the bottom of the frame to the top of the leaf spring then this Timbren Suspension kit should work.
Please note that this measurement should be taken on the vehicle under normal conditions, without a trailer hooked up, load in the bed, or without any additional weight on the suspension. The measurement should be taken with only the normal weight of the vehicle on the suspension.
If you do not have the required clearance please feel free to reply directly to me with the measurement of the clearance that you have and I will gladly coordinate with Timbren to get the correct product recommendation to you to fit the measurements of your vehicle suspension.
I have included a link to one of our helpful articles regarding Timbren Suspension Systems for your reference.
