Question:

Im looking for a new hitch system for my new GMC 20500HD with the factory installed puck system. My trailer and hitch will work with a curt adapter but that leaves me with a heavy hitch to remove all of the time. I like the aspects of the Demco DM8550045 but i would also need a gooseneck ball for it to work. I like what I read about the BandW ball BWGNXA2061. However, I cant tell if the two fit together. Will the Demco hitch fit on that BandW ball?

I do have a few alternate options that may interest you, but as the B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit # BWGNXA2061 is considered a High-Rise ball, it cannot be used with the Demco Recon Gooseneck-to-5th Wheel Trailer Hitch Adapter # DM8550045, unfortunately.

If you had your heart set on the Demco Recon, which I do like and is the lightest of this style adapter, you can use the Curt Ball and Safety Chain Loop Kit # C38CR. This is not a high-rise style ball so there will be no issue with the gap between the bottom of the Recon and your truck bed.

With that being said, as your 2022 GMC Sierra 2500 came with the factory puck system, you can also use the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch # BWRVK3710 (20,000 pounds) or the # BWRVK3715 (25,000 pounds). These, like the Demco Recon, are American made, weigh right at 150 pounds, and are built to last. They will also very quickly and easily hook right into the factory pucks. This is quite a bit different from what you were looking at though, but is still a good option.
