Bumper Clearances of Swagman Chinook When Installed on 2009 Ford Taurus

Would this bike rake have enough distance from the bumper of a 2009 Ford Taurus. Thank you,

If your Taurus already has a hitch installed, this rack will fit in your receiver.

In order to determine the clearance distance needed, you would measure from the hitch pin hole in your receiver rearward to the furthest rearward point of the bumper, as shown in the FAQ article I have linked you to. When we installed a Class II or III hitch on your vehicle, we found the clearance distance to be 4 to 5 inches.

The bike rack you choose would need to have a shank longer than the measurement you took. The Swagman Chinook Bike Rack for 2 Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches - Frame Mount # S64683 shank measures 12-1/2 inches between the hitch pin hole and the closest portion of the rack. It is 6" from the center of the hitch pin hole when folded up. The rack is compatible with 1-1/4 inch receivers as well as 2 inch receivers when the included adapter is used.
