Question:

Hi, I have a 2008 Forest River Georgetown SE Class A Gas Motorhome with the SCS Frigette coach steps. The problem I am having is when opening the door the steps extend and retract 4-5 times before stopping. It happens very often, almost seems like a limit switch is not working. Have you come across this problem before? Not sure if its the motor or the controller or something else altogether. Thanks for any help

That is a strange issue to have. The issue may be with one of a few parts. It could be that the motor is stuttering before the steps are fully retracted causing them to retract as it thinks that it may be hitting something. The controller may be causing the steps to go in and out due to a faulty circuit board or wiring. Finally it could be in either the door switch or other safety switch sending bad signal to the circuit board and causing the motor to go in and out.

The separate components will need to be tested to determine exactly what is at fault. Be sure to test everything as there could be issues with multiple parts at the same time.
