Question:

Hi. I need to get a roof rack for my 2022 F-250 Crew Cab. This will be used to carry a long canoe that is used for fishing, but it is too long to just load into the bed, which is the 6.75 foot bed. Plus I have a tonneau cover on the bed and I really don't want to put a ladder rack on it. What do have that will work for me?

We definitely have a roof rack for your 2022 Ford F-250 Crew Cab. We do also have ladder racks that can be used with some tonneau covers if you ever change your mind and want to get one added, but let's back to the matter at hand.

I recommend going with a Thule set up as I have used Thule products throughout the years and have found them to exceptionally long lived and reliable. To get a complete roof rack system on your truck, you will need the Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars # TH711520, Evo Clamp Feet # TH710501, and the Fit Kit # TH29TX. This will give you a 165 pound carrying capacity and 60" of usable crossbar space. All these parts also carry Thule's Lifetime Warranty, which is always a big plus. The Thule Pads for AeroCrossbars # TH846000 will provide 30" of padded coverage for the bars and your canoe, so they are also a very nice thing to have.

As you mentioned your canoe being on the long side though, I do also recommend the Erickson Big Bed Load Extender # EM07600-07601. This installs in your hitch and can be used to carry the back end of your canoe a lot more securely. The bar that will support your canoe is bare metal though, so I do recommend also grabbing a set of the of the 20" # TH843000 pads to protect everything.
