The threaded portion of the u-bolts in the RhinoRack Crossbar Fit Kit, part # S280, measures 1-1/8 inches.
This kit consists of 4 u-bolts, 8 plastic knobs with threaded steel inserts, 8 washers, 8 plastic caps for ends of the u-bolts, and 4 metal brackets.
The attached photo provides overall dimensions for the u-bolts: the distance between the centers of the threaded posts is exactly 4 inches; the overall height of the u-bolt is 2-1/2-inches.
