Though the Curt Multi-Ball Mount for 2" Hitches # C45655 can definitely be used with a trailer that has brakes, there will be no way to attach a sway control kit, like the Reese # 83660, to it. What you will need to do is go with a standard ball mount, like the Curt # C45030, and then attach the Reese Sway-Control Bracket for 2" Ball Mounts # RP26003 to it between the ball and the platform. This will allow you to get a friction sway control kit, again like the # 83660, attached and working properly.
If you were looking for something that allows you to tow multiple trailers with different size couplers, I recommend using the Convert-A-Ball Interchangeable Ball Set # 105TB with the above set up. This gives you a 1-7/8", 2", and 2-5/16" ball and will be the say to go. Using all these will also not have any issues with a trailer that has brakes either.
