Troubleshooting Check Trailer Connection Error on 2021 Jeep Grand Cherokee L with LED Trailer Lights

Question:

I just bought a new Jeep Grand Cherokee L, Summit with factory trailering package, 7 pin connector. The “L” is a brand new designed model for 2021. I have a 2014 BoatMate trailer for my Malibu Responce TXi. It has LED lights. All of the light s work fine while towing. On occasion, I get an error message on the dash “check trailer connection”. It seems like the C57003 adapter is designed to fix problems when the lights on the trailer don’t work correctly. Do you think the C57003 will help resolve the error messages? Based on the description of your problem I believe the 7-Way Trailer Adapter for Towing Trailers with LED Lights # C57003 will solve the issue. Although not on a Jeep Grand Cherokee L, we have had other reports of this solving "trailer not connected" errors even though the LED lights are functioning on the trailer. The built-in load resistors enable LED signals from your trailer to be read by your vehicle's computer.

I would also recommend inspecting the 7-way connection on your vehicle and trailer as well. Look for any corrosion or debris and clean as necessary. This might also cause the intermittent "check trailer connection" warning and is a quick and easy thing to look at before purchasing an adapter.
