Question:
Hi! I have two questions: I recently got a small boat with a trailer. All the trailer lights are in good condition, but the two mid running lights are not connected into the wiring at all. Id like to add these lights into the system brown wire. What is the best way to do this? Is it ok to use waterproof butt connectors, or is there a better way to do this? Second question: This one is just out of curiosity: Why is the bottom of the left break/turn signal light box clear, and the right one not? Thanks!

Helpful Expert Reply:
Waterproof heat shrink butt connectors like # DW05744-5 would work great to tap your side-mounted clearance lights into the running lamp circuit which is typically carried by a brown wire, as you mentioned.
The clear panel on the underside of the driver's side taillight is for illuminating a license plate if it's mounted below the taillight. If you don't have license plate mounting bracket, you can add one using part # LP10SB. Once the running lights are switched on, the license plate will be lit up.
