Can I Flip the Saris Swing Away Hitch Upside Down?
Updated 11/10/2021 | Published 11/09/2021 >
Question:
Could I flip it upside down so it would swing to the driver’s side? I realize the latch would then be on the bottom. I also realize Kuat makes one that swings to the driver’s side, but those are not in stock and hard to come by.

It is not recommend to mount the Saris Swing Away Hitch Extender for Bike Racks item # SAR36VR upside down so that it swings to the drivers side. The weight from the bike and rack when not extended is sitting on top of the receiver mount. If you were to flip this around that weight would be hanging down and supported only by the locking mechanism. This would be putting unnecessary stress on a part not designed for that purpose and it could potentially fail.
I recommend the Kuat Item # PVD20B you referenced. It rotates out 90 degrees or 120 degrees on your driver's side for quick and easy access to the rear of your vehicle.
